Beginner Oboe Reed (1 Reed)
Beginner Oboe Reed (1 Reed)
These Beginner Oboe Reeds are the ideal reed for beginning oboe students, up through high school.
Finished Standards:
Finished length: 70-71 mm
Tuned to A440
Double octave C crow.
I use a micrometer to ensure consistency, and test each reed individually for responsiveness, pitch, stability in all registers, and tone.
Shape:
Joshua +2 (shaped on a Reeds 'n Stuff shaper machine)
Staples:
Advantage Student Brass Staples with synthetic cork, 47mm
Strength:
-Soft: Recommended for most beginners. They are as easy as I can make them without sacrificing pitch and stability, but you may find that they play a bit flat. If you are looking for a reed that will help you play better in tune, you may want to choose one of the other reed strength options.
-Medium soft: Recommended for players who play less frequently. They will still play in tune, but they may be slightly less stable than other reed strengths.
-Medium: Recommended for most players who play on a consistent basis.
-Medium Hard: Recommended for those who prefer to make some adjustments to their own reeds, as well as those who prefer a firmer reed.
-Hard: Recommended for those who like to make their own adjustments
Thread color:
Variegated Thread. Color will be random.
Production Time:
Reeds are listed when they are ready to go, so once you place your order, they'll be shipped within 2-3 business days.
Packing:
After personally testing each reed, I disinfect them using a 70% Isopropyl Alcohol solution. Reeds are individually packaged and then shipped in a sturdy cardboard box.
During checkout you may choose between 2 packing options:
-Compact cardstock box: Environmentally friendly and biodegradable. Only intended for one-time use. This is the default option.
-Plastic vial with cotton at the bottom to protect the tip. This is the recommended option if you do not plan to transfer your reeds to a reed case.
Covid-19:
If you have concerns about Covid-19, the current recommendation for reeds is to disinfect them and then "quarantine" them for at least 3 days. Most often, the quarantine period will occur while the reed is in transit through the mail system, but for those who would like to take extra precautions, you may wish to extend the quarantine period or disinfect the reed yourself before you play on it.
Allergies:
My home is not nut-free, but I do attempt to keep my office space nut-free. Please let me know if you have additional allergy concerns.
Refund Policy:
If a reed arrives cracked or damaged, please notify me within 48 hours with picture-proof, and I'll replace it at no cost. If dissatisfied with the quality of the reed, you may send it back within 48 hours for a replacement or refund.
About Me:
I have a BM and MM in Oboe Performance. I have made my own reeds for more than fifteen years, and understand the importance of having a consistent and dependable reed that is flexible enough to get you through every playing situation.
